Roxanich Sauvage 2011/12 (Roxanich Wineries)

Monumental, layered wine for the unwavering.

Roxanich Sauvage is a single-varietal wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Sauvage is the recognizable flagship of Mladen Rožanić's Philosophy line and carries the historically first-known name of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape.

The word "sauvage" evokes associations of game meat, earth, and forest soil, as stated on the label of Roxanich Sauvage: dark and ripe fruits, plums, black currants, black pepper, cedar, and tobacco - a warm autumn afternoon on the palate. "Sauvage" also refers to a spontaneously fermented wine, created with its own "wild" yeasts.

Deep garnet in color, Roxanich Sauvage is bottled without filtration after nine years of aging in large wooden barrels. Certainly one of the greatest wines produced by Mladen Rožanić, it offers magnificent aromas of candied plums, blackcurrant jam, dried rose petals, and blackberry compote with a hint of licorice.

Full-bodied, rich in flavor, yet soft and delicate, Sauvage reveals layer upon layer of its spicy character. Almost decadently lavish, Sauvage will captivate every lover of this distinctive variety with its unique spicy moments.

The wine is exceptionally balanced, deep, and with rounded tannins. The finish is magnificent in its endurance and aromatic richness. It's an almost magical experience.
